Until about the 1970’s, women were not in the workforce unless the men were at war and they had to help manufacture things while the men were away fighting. During this time period, men were to only do outdoor chores such as care for the cars and yard. Women were supposed to take care of the indoor chores such as the children, cleaning, washing clothes, and making meals. The above picture represents this family perfectly because the men did not have to worry about very much. They just worked all day and then came home and occasionally had to do yard work and fix the cars. On the other hand, women worked 24/7. There were children to be taken care of and always an ample amount of clothes and dishes to be washed.
